  • Julie Plec Confirms a New Vampire Is Coming to Legacies Season 2

    Brace yourselves, Salvatore School students: It sounds like Mystic Falls is getting a new resident vampire when Legacies’ returns.

    Though Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) will be MIA, life will carry for Landon (Aria Shahghasemi), Alaric (Matt Davis), and the rest of the gang, which means school is officially back in session when summer vacation ends. And what’s a new school year without some new students? TV Guide caught up with showrunner Julie Plec at ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, and she teased a new character who may be joining the halls of our favorite supernatural boarding school in Season 2.

    “We’re really excited about a new character that we’re introducing. We really want to bring in an old, old, old-world vampire,” Plec told TV Guide. “We made the rule for our school that the vampires who go to our school actually need to be teenagers… not hundreds of years [old] because then you get into some creepy math. But we want to introduce a vampire who kind of got desiccated when he was 17 in maybe the 15th century and now wakes up in the 21st century and realizes that all the rules of being a vampire have changed and that he does not fit in into this very modern world.”

    So basically a time-traveling vampire?! Hell yes, bust out that welcome wagon, Saltzman twins! Something tells us Legacies and its whimsical nature will not miss an opportunity to poke fun at this kid and his bafflement at modern technology, feminism, and fashion.

    Legacies will return on Thursdays this fall on The CW.

  • Sara te zien in horror-reboot film van ‘The Banana Splits’

    Sara is aankomende zomer te zien in de nieuwe horror-film ‘The Banana Splits’ op dezender Syfy. De film is gebaseerd op een gelijknamige kinderserie die rond 1960 uitgezonden werd op NBC, echter nu met een horror twist.

    The Banana Splits are back, but not everyone is here for it. A Syfy revival of the 1960s children’s TV show about a kid-friendly animal band is a full-on horror film which is getting a mixed reaction from fans of the original Saturday morning series.

    According to TV Line, the beloved children’s show, which originally aired on NBC from 1968 to 1970, is back “with a vengeance, a horrible, bloody vengeance,” in Syfy’s The Banana Splits Movie. The unlikely revival film is directed by Danishka Esterhazy (Black Field) and written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas (My Super Psycho Sweet 16) and has been rated R for “violence and gore.”

    The film stars Finlay Wojtak-Hissong as Harley, a young boy who attends a taping of the classic TV show The Banana Splits with his family for his birthday. Dani Kind, Steve Lund, Romeo Carere, and The Vampire Diaries’ Sara Canning also star in the Syfy movie. Unfortunately, the Banana Splits bandmates Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper, and Snorky are doing more than singing the “Tra La La Song” during this particular TV taping as things take an unexpected (read: deadly) turn for young Harley and his family.

    Based on the trailer, which you can see below, there will be singing and dancing in The Banana Splits Movie, as well as bloody violence as the TV bandmates are revealed to be murderous robots.

    It’s no surprise that original fans of The Banana Splits are not happy about the slasher-style reboot of the classic kiddie show. Social media reaction has fans asking, “What have they done to The Banana Splits?”

    “How dare they sully the wholesome memory of the stupidity that was the PROPER Banana Splits,” another classic TV fan tweeted. “I want nothing to do with it.”

    “Why have they taken my childhood loved friends The Banana Splits and done this to them!??? WHY????” another wrote.

    Others compared The Banana Splits movie to a rip-off of the video game franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s.

    Of course, the reboot movie is not the first bizarre Banana Splits sighting. In 2017, The Banana Splits had a crossover with the Suicide Squad in the comic book Suicide Squad/Banana Splits #1.

    Back in the late 1960s, The Banana Splits Adventure Hour was a live action-animated collaboration between cartoon kings William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and children’s TV legends Sid and Marty Krofft. The four members of the fictional rock band were introduced as Fleegle the beagle (guitar), Bingo the gorilla (drums), Drooper the lion (bass), and Snorky the elephant (keyboards).

    While the original Banana Splits only aired on NBC Saturday mornings for two years, it lived on in syndication on Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

    The Banana Splits reboot movie will air on Syfy and will be available on Blu-ray later this summer.

  • Torrey te zien in nieuwe thriller ‘Divertimento’

    Torrey zal naast ‘Twilight’ acteur Kellan Lutz te zien zijn in de nieuwe thriller ‘Divertimento’, opnames van de film zijn al gemaakt in Parijs. De film komt naar verwachting volgend jaar uit.

    Twilight and Expendables actor Kellan Lutz has been tapped to lead Divertimento, an indie thriller written and directed by French filmmaker Keyvan Sheikhalishahi.

    The film, Sheikhalishahi’s third one, follows Jonas Olsen (Lutz), a chess player haunted by a tragic past who is given an opportunity to participate in a mysterious game, Divertimento.

    Torrey DeVitto from TV’s Vampire Diaries and Chicago Med also stars in the pic as well as Ola Rapace (Skyfall), Götz Otto (Cloud Atlas), Christian Hillborg (The Last Kingdom), Ellie Heydon (Harlots), and Brittany Lynn.

    Sheikhalishahi is also producing the pic which is currently shooting in France.

    Lutz is also gearing up to shot the action film The Last Story of David Allen later this month. Directed by Justin Gullet, the plot follows an ordinary man who is forced into killing. It tells the story of his last victim and the girl he tried not to fall in love with.

    Matthew Sprosty wrote the script. Producers are Luillo Ruiz of Pimienta, Justin Gullet of Red Thread Pictures, and Bret Saxon.

    Lutz was last seen on the big screen in Paramount’s What Men Want remake and up next appears as a series regular on CBS’ upcoming Dick Wolf’s drama, FBI: Most Wanted.

    He’s repped by Innovative Artists, Zero Gravity Management, and Morris, Yorn.

  • Matthew Davis wil Caroline in tweede seizoen ‘Legacies’

    Er is reeds heel wat gezegd en geschreven over een mogelijks optreden van Caroline in het tweede seizoen van ‘Legacies’. Eigenlijk werd er reeds in de aanloop en tijdens het eerste seizoen druk gespeculeerd over het verschijnen van de actrice in de reeks. Nu het tweede seizoen is bevestigd duiken die geruchten terug op. Ze worden bovendien nog versterkt door een uitspraak van ‘Matthew Davis’. Hij stelde namelijk dat hij graag het personage van Caroline in de serie wil zien verschijnen. Mogen fans dan toch nog hoop koesteren?

    Het lijkt eigenlijk slechts een kwestie van tijd vooraleer het personage Caroline in Legacies zal opduiken. Caroline en Alaric hebben niet alleen twee dochters samen (Lizzie en Josie Saltzman), daarnaast runnen ze ook de Salvatore School. Dit is het gevolg van het feit dat Damon het huis van de Salvatores aan Caroline heeft geschonken in de finale van ‘The Vampire Diaries’. Na afloop van de finale van het eerste seizoen is het duidelijk dat Alaric best wat hulp kan gebruiken bij het runnen van de Salvatore School. Ook dit lijkt de weg vrij te maken voor Candice King en haar personage ‘Caroline’.

    Kwestie van tijd?
    In een recent interview dat Matthew Davis heeft afgelegd wist de acteur het volgende aan te geven op de vraag wanneer we Caroline in Legacies zullen zien verschijnen; “God, dat is een goede vraag! Ik zou het fijn vinden mocht ze naast mij te zien zijn in de reeks. Echter is dit een moeilijke vraag om te beantwoorden. Candice is mama geworden en ze geniet van haar leven. Ze is altijd welkom om de cast te vervoegen, althans als dat is wat ze echt wil. Het spreekt voor zich dat Caroline een welkome aanvulling zou zijn voor de verhaallijn van de reeks”.

    Bovenstaande lijkt uit te laten schijnen dat de bal vooral in het kamp van de actrice ligt. Gaat ze overstag of niet? De (nabije?) toekomst zal het ons leren!

    Triest nieuws voor Rachael Leigh Cook en haar echtgenoot Daniel Gillies. Het stel heeft besloten om na 14 jaar een punt achter een huwelijk te zetten. De 39-jarige actrice en de 43-jarige acteur maakten dit zelf bekend via sociale media.

    “Met grote dankbaarheid voor alle jaren die samen hebben doorgebracht en de duizenden prachtige herinneringen die we delen, hebben we besloten om uit elkaar te gaan. Deze beslissing is niet zomaar genomen. We houden van elkaar en respecteren elkaar als ouders, als mens en als artiest. We kijken ernaar uit om het goede uit onze relatie voort te zetten in de komende jaren,” aldus Rachael.

    “In het belang van onze kinderen vragen we om jullie discretie in deze periode van transitie. Veel dank aan degenen die hier al van op de hoogte waren; jullie compassie en begrip is geweldig. Veel liefs, Rachael en Daniel.”

    Het stel trouwde op 8 augustus 2004 en kreeg samen twee kinderen: dochter Charlotte (5) en zoon Theodore (4).

  • Paul toch te zien in tweede seizoen ‘Tell Me A Story’

    Paul zal toch te zien zijn in het tweede seizoen van ‘Tell Me A Story’, alleen ditmaal in een andere rol. Het eerste seizoen van de serie zal vanaf 11 juli te zien zijn op de streamingsdienst Videoland.

    Paul Wesley, who co-starred in the first season of Tell Me a Story, will be back as a star in the upcoming second season of CBS All Access’ anthology series. Wesley will play a new character in the drama, from creator Kevin Williamson and Aaron Kapaln’s Kapital Entertainment.

    Tell Me a Story, based on a Spanish format, takes the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller. We can reveal that Season 2 will feature the tales of three iconic princesses – Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. (Season 1 weaved together dark stories based on The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and Hansel and Gretel.)

    Wesley will play Tucker. A struggling novelist, Tucker spends his sleepless nights toiling away in a secluded cabin in the woods and his days trying to prove he’s good enough for his beautiful fiancée. But it’s all about to come crashing down as a dark secret threatens to destroy his world.

    The casting further expands Wesley’s relationship with Kapital Entertainment which started when The Vampire Diaries alum was tapped for a role in Tell Me a Story’s first season. It led to Wesley and his company Citizen Media entering a production partnership with Kapital, which has multiple shows in the works, including a drama based on Jason Smith’s non-fiction article Confessions Of a Drug-Addicted High School Teacher, with Wesley attached to star and David Slade (Black Mirror) to direct, and supernatural crime drama Possessed, based on a Korean format.

    Wesley starred on The Vampire Diaries for eight seasons, directed multiple episodes throughout the series’ run, and served as a producer for its final season. Behind the camera, last year he directed episodes of Roswell, New Mexico and Legacies. Additionally, he had a co-starring role in Netflix’s docu-drama Medal Of Honor, produced by Robert Zemeckis, and starred in two off-Broadway theater productions in 2018.

    Tell Me a Story is executive produced by Williamson and Kapital’s Kaplan and Dana Honor.

  • Joseph gecast in nieuwe sci-fi serie ‘Brave New World’

    Joseph is gecast in de nieuwe sci-fi serie ”Brave New World’, de serie gebaseerd op een boek uit 1932 zal uitgezonden worden op de Amerikaanse zender USA Network. Het is nog niet bekend wanneer de serie precies zal verschijnen.

    Brave New World‘s population continues to rise. USA Network’s forthcoming adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s classic sci-fi novel has added Pitch‘s Kylie Bunbury, The Originals‘ Joseph Morgan and Killjoys‘ Hannah John-Kamen in series-regular roles, Deadline reports.

    Also newly cast are Nina Sosanya (Killing Eve) and Sen Mitsuji (Origin). They join previously announced stars Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) and Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones).

    Huxley’s novel, first published in 1932 and read by you as a teenager, is set in a futuristic utopian society “that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself,” according to the official logline. Findlay’s Lenina and Lloyd’s Bernard Marx are New London citizens who “have only ever known a rigid social order, a perfect pharmaceutical called Soma, and a culture of instant gratification and ubiquitous sex.” Together, they set off on a vacation to the Savage Lands, “where they become embroiled in a harrowing and violent rebellion.” They are ultimately rescued by Ehrenreich’s John the Savage, who “escapes with them back to New London” and “threatens to disrupt its utopian harmony.”

    Bunbury will play Lenina’s best friend Frannie, a Beta Plus who has learned to embrace New London’s social order, while Morgan has been cast as CJack60, an Epsilon who works a series of physically demanding jobs and bears witness to a terrifying incident. John-Kamen will play self-indulgent artist Wilhelmina “Helm” Watson, while Sosanya and Mitsuji have been cast as Henry Foster and Mustapha Mond.
