Candice en Kayla in Conversations With Unexpected Book Nerds
If you love to read books, chances are you love to talk about them too. But have you ever wondered about whether your favorite celebrities or public figures love to read as well? If you might share a favorite book or preferred genre with them? Well, I sure have! So, I’m on a mission to find book lovers (book nerds, if you will!) in unexpected places. In this interview series, I’ll be talking with people you recognize but don’t necessarily associate with books — musicians, actors and actresses, athletes, and more. We will be discussing all of their current projects you want to hear about, of course, but we will also be digging into their unique reading and writing lives!
In this interview, I chat with Candice King and Kayla Ewell. You know them from the hit show The Vampire Diaries, where Candice played Caroline and Kayla played Vicki. Now they’re hosting the fantastic podcast Directionally Challenged, which is about “realigning your internal compass.” With transparency and humor, Candice and Kayla examine what it means to be a woman in your 30’s and they talk with a broad range of guests on topics from work to family life, aspirations to health, and much more.
(You might hear a little voice in the background of this interview … that’s Kayla’s sweet baby girl. Life happens at the most inconvenient moments, so when Kayla’s childcare fell through at the last minute, Candice and Kayla just rolled with the punches. I love that they wanted to still share this audio with our listeners because, well, this is real life as a working mom! So, without further ado, here is my conversation with Candice and Kayla. Taylor Swift zat bijna in ‘The Vampire Diaries’
Taylor Swift (30) kennen we van kneiters van hits zoals ‘Bad Blood’, ‘Blank Space’ en ‘You Belong With Me’. Maar het had zomaar kunnen zijn dat haar carrière een hele andere wending had genomen. Nina Dobrev (31) heeft namelijk vertelt aan ‘E! News’ dat de zangeres bijna in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ had gezeten!
“Ik weet zeker dat ze het goed had gedaan”
Nina is te gast om haar nieuwe film te promoten, maar natuurlijk kunnen de presentatoren het niet laten om The Vampire Diaries te benoemen. In de uitzending doet ze een bijzondere onthulling en vertelt ze dat Taylor Swift groot fan was van de show. Zó groot dat de schrijvers een rol voor haar besloten te schrijven. Helaas lukte het niet om de agenda’s te matchen, maar “dat was een grote verrassing”, aldus Nina. “Ik weet zeker dat ze het goed had gedaan.”

Toch kruipt het bloed waar het niet kruipen kan, want Taylor heeft het acteren nooit helemaal opgegeven. Zo was ze al te zien in CSI, New Girl, Valentine’s Day en afgelopen jaar maakte ze haar entree op het witte doek in de verfilming van Cats. Het is niet de eerste keer dat een artiest besluit het over een andere boeg te gooien. Maar dat was niet zo’n succes… -

Thomas Doherty gecast in nieuwe ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot
Thomas Doherty die in het huidige seizoen van ‘Legacies’ de rol van Sebastian speel is gecast als één van de hoofdrollen in de nieuwe ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot voor HBO MAX.
HBO Max is rounding out the ensemble cast for Gossip Girl, its upcoming series reimagining of the pop culture phenomenon that made household names of stars such as Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick. Tavi Gevinson (Scream Queens) is set as a lead, along with Thomas Doherty (High Fidelity), Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal) and Zion Moreno (Claws) join previously announced lead Emily Alyn Lind.
The 10-episode series hails from Joshua Safran, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros TV and CBS Television Studios.
Like the original series, the new iteration of Gossip Girl, written by Safran, is based on the book by Cecily von Ziegesar. Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years.
Safran executive produces with Fake Empire’s Schwartz and Savage, and Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo of Alloy Entertainment. Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski is co-executive producer. Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment produce in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios.
Gossip Girl ran for six seasons from 2007-2012 on the CW across 121 episodes. Its influence extended beyond television and had a major impact on fashion.
Gevinson’s credits include guest-starring roles on Scream Queens and CBS All Access’ The Twilight Zone reboot, as well as the feature Enough Said. She’s repped by UTA and Untitled.
Doherty was most recently seen in recurring roles on Hulu’s High Fidelity and HBO’s Catherine The Great. He’s repped by Anonymous Content, Olivia Bell Management, and Peikoff Mahan
Chanler-Berat originated the roles of Henry in Next to Normal, Peter in Peter and the Starcatcher, and Nino in Amélie. He’s repped by Gersh and Saperstein Management.
Moreno’s credits include TNT’s Claws. She’s repped by Gersh and Vision Entertainment.
