Exclusive interview of Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) with Bulgarian-Canadian actress Nina Dobrev for Novinite’s “International Survey Bulgaria-USA.”
Nina Dobrev is the reason why Bulgarians can finally say they made it to Hollywood. Only 21-year-old, she has already gained international acclaim thanks to her role as Elena Gilbert in the popular American TV show “The Vampire Diaries,” which is already in its second season.
Nina was born in Sofia but moved with her parents to Canada at the age of two. In Toronto, Ontario she had the chance to develop her passion and talent for arts.

Nina Dobrev personally is making sure nothing gets lost in translation on The Vampire Diaries.
With a little help from her mom, that is.
Dobrev and her mother worked on the Bulgarian dialogue that was used in the most recent new episode to air (Nov. 11). The 21-year-old Dobrev is Bulgarian-Canadian, having been born in Bulgaria but raised in Toronto.
“I called my mom, and she and I translated it,” Dobrev said of the Bulgarian dialogue in the episode titled Katerina.
“I think the writers had used an internet translator and it was so funny. All those online translators are never right. So we did it. I translated my own dialogue, but I called my mom just to confirm I was right.

TYLER FACES HIS FIRST TRANSFORMATION — As the full moon approaches, Caroline (Candice Accola) helps Tyler (Michael Trevino) prepare for the transformation he is powerless to stop. While Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Katherine (Nina Dobrev) play mind games on one another, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Alaric (Matt Davis) are suspicious when a stranger named Jules (guest star Michaela McManus) shows up in Mystic Falls, searching for her missing friend, Mason. Elena (Dobrev) is frustrated at the lengths Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and her friends have gone to in order to keep her safe. Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Luca (guest star Bryton James) work together on a spell, while still keeping secrets from one another. Finally, Elijah (guest star Daniel Gillies) makes an unexpected appearance with an offer that could change everything.
Een HQ outtakes van de seizoen 2 promotieshoot is verschenen, de foto was eerder al te zien in een artikel van TVGuide.

She may not be sure about Bonnie & Jeremy’s future, but Katerina tells us she does think Steven is a ‘cutie!’
We know a ton of you want to see Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) hook up on The Vampire Diaries, so we couldn’t resist asking Katerina about the potential pairing when we saw her Nov. 13 at the Gay & Lesbian Center’s 39th Anniversary Gala & Auction in Los Angeles. “I don’t even know what’s going to happen with me and Jeremy, or me and Luca,” she told HollywoodLife.com, adding, “But I love working with Steven. He’s such a cutie. … It’s not a bad looking cast. I’m not complaining.”
And in case you had ANY concerns that the cast wasn’t buddy-buddy off-camera, you can officially put those fears to bed. Katerina told us the entire cast is “very close.”
“[If we shot in LA] I think we would all be so busy and have so many responsibilities press-wise,” she said. “But because we’re in Georgia, we’re just like, ‘Hey guys, what do you want to do after work? I don’t know. Let’s go hang out. Let’s go to a bar or a movie.’ It’s a very normal environment.”
She told us specifically that she loves “hanging out at Candice’s house and talking to Nina We’re all just really close. These are my girls.”
As if we needed yet another reason to love these girls. Anybody have a spare room in Mystic Falls? I’m looking to rent!
On Saturday November 13, Canada celebrated some of the best and brightest we have to offer the world of television at the 25th Annual Gemini Awards (Think: Canada’s Emmy equivalent). Hosted by GLEE’s Cory Monteith, we are not exaggerating when we say everybody who is anybody in the world of Canadian TV was there. Including, theTVaddict.com’s very own Melissa Girimonte (@thetelevixen on twitter) who, planted firmly on the red carpet had the enviable “job” of interviewing the likes of Nina Dobrev, Grace Park, the cast of ROOKIE BLUE, and more. Interviews we’ll be sharing all week in a series we’ve cleverly coined Gemini Gems.
If you’ll forgive me for unleashing my inner fangirl for a moment, you are totally rocking it as Katherine and Elena this year, to the point where we have to constantly remind ourselves that you’re one person!
Nina Dobrev: That’s the goal, that’s what we want to achieve. They are two really different people so I have to work really hard to make sure they have different walks, they talk differently, the mannerisms… they just have different minds, they grew up in different eras, different genres, in different times so it’s like a whole other beast. How much more of a challenge has shooting this season been?
It has been a challenge, but it’s been a welcome one. It’s longer hours because I’m in every single scene and it’s not sleeping because we work at night a lot of the time. I have my work cut out for me but I’m very excited and willing to do it.
Well, it’s certainly nice of you to escape to Canada to help celebrate 30 years of DEGRASSI.
It just meant a lot of me to be here and to honor this show [DEGRASSI], which is my family, so I begged the producers to let me travel. That, and it’s a weekend, which is a plus because we don’t work on weekends!

Vampire Diaries hunk Ian Somerhalder has been named “Supernaturally Spectacular” in People’s 2010 Sexiest Man Issue (with Ryan Reynolds on the cover).
“Human beings love things that are sexy but scary,” says Ian, 32. “[I feel sexiest] first thing in the morning, when I’m most relaxed. I have three animals in the bed, and there’s fur everywhere in the sheets. It would be a little weird for me to say that I feel sexy with all my kitties. I would be ‘that guy.’ ”
See who else made the Sexiest Man cut at People.com!
Nina Dobrev is super smiley as she stops by Lopez Tonight on Wednesday (November 17).
The 21-year-old actress, in Dalia MacPhee, dished to host George Lopez about some Bulgarian customs — where no means yes and yes means no.
Nina shared, “In Bulgaria, everything is kind of the opposite in that sense. When someone says yes, they go like this [shaking her head from side to side]. And when they say no, they do this [shaking head up and down]. It is confusing.”
Check out Nina speaking Bulgarian to George below!
