Nina gecast in nieuwe film ‘Run This Town’

Nina is gecast in de nieuwe film ‘Run This Town’, deze zal gaan over een jonge journalist die zichzelf wil bewijzen maar als hij een schandaal ontdekt rondom een
politicus wordt hij tegenwerkt door zijn medewerkers. Nina zal één van die medewerkers spelen die er alles aan zullen doen om de publicatie tegen te houden zodat ze hun baan kunnen behouden.

Tony-winning actor Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen), The Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev, and Mena Massoud, star of Disney’s live-action Aladdin film, have signed on to topline the drama pic Run This Town, along with Emmy winner Damian Lewis (Billions, Homeland). The film was written by Ricky Tollman, who will also direct the piece, marking his feature directorial debut.

The plot follows a young journalist (Platt), desperate to prove himself, who catches wind of a scandal involving a flashy, unpredictable politician with no filter (Lewis). Political aides (Massoud and Dobrev) attempt to keep their boss in check – and
the story under wraps – in order to save their jobs.

Randy Manis (Lawless, Kill Your Darlings) and Jonathan Bronfman (The Witch, Patti Cakes) are producing the project, while Ariella Naymark will co-produce. CounterNarrative Films, recently launched by J.C. Chandor, Neal Dodson and Anna Gerb, will serve as exec producer.

Platt, who will next be seen starring in Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix series The Politician, is repped by CAA, One Entertainment, and Jackoway Tyerman. Dobrev’s upcoming film slate includes Departures, Dog Days, and Lucky Day. She is repped by Lighthouse Management & Media and CAA. Mena, repped by ICM, Stokes Management, The Characters Talent Agency in Canada, and Myman Greenspan, appears in Amazon’s upcoming series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, opposite John Krasinski.

Lewis can currently be seen as Bobby Axelrod on the recently debuted third season of Showtime’s Billions. His reps are UTA, Markham, Froggatt & Irwin, and Jackoway, Tyerman, Wertheimer.

Tollman produced the upcoming film Jonathan, starring Ansel Elgort, Matt Bomer, and Suki Waterhouse, which will premiere next month at Tribeca.
