But Claire Holt has revealed the extent of rejection she had to suffer before finally finding some success in Hollywood. The 29-year-old said on Saturday she was knocked back for a staggering 142 roles before she made her first break.
‘I did 142 auditions before I booked my first job. It was a relentless stream of ‘no’,’ she told Cassandra Kerr’s blog For She Is You, The Courier Mail reported. The Brisbane-born actress said it was hard to continue chasing her dreams amid the constant rejection, but is ‘grateful’ that she persisted.
‘It was very hard to stay focused and to believe in myself. I wanted to quit many times,’ Claire said.
Now work continues to roll in for Claire, who has landed roles on TV series Aquarius, The Originals and new film 47 Metres Down, the newspaper reported.But the actress said sometimes she feels undeserving of the Hollywood success she has achieved.
‘At times I find it hard to feel deserving of success or the life that I am lucky enough to lead. I think a lot of people experience those feelings,’ she said.Claire also revealed to the blog that she suffers from anxiety, The Courier Mail reported.
She said she often goes to a ‘dark place’ when confronted with certain issues.
The Vampire Diaries star said she finds the best way to handle the emotions is to talk to someone – whether it be a therapist, her partner, sister or friends.
