Vampire Diaries: Sara Canning remembers her time as Aunt Jenna
With one season left in The Vampire Diaries’ run, we decided it was time to start collecting everyone’s final diary entries. Every week during the final season, EW is asking those involved with the show to look back on one of their favorite moments from the series. So grab your tissues and join us on this trip down a vampire-filled memory lane.
This week, Sara Canning remembers the great Aunt Jenna…
The very first thing that popped into my mind about the show would be the first episode that we shot after the pilot, because everybody had moved to Atlanta and we were excited. I look back at us as these kids who were so excited about the potential of what the show could be. It was the first pilot I ever worked on and it was the first time I’d ever been a regular on a show. It was pretty incredible to move with this amazing group of people and to get to know a new city. It was the first time I’d ever lived in the U.S. We’d take trips on the weekends and we’d always be going out to the lake. I remember that first season, particularly the first few months and shooting before the show aired, as this really wild, exciting time. It was pretty special.
I loved the dinner party scene at the Salvatore house or the barbecue we hosted when Mason rolled back into town. I remember those being such fun days, just having a big group of us. I think we were playing Pictionary at the barbecue with Mason. I just remember those days so fondly. The cast is a group who’s so eager to laugh and prank and have a good time. I think I miss that most about the cast as an entirety — they just really want to have a good time. And they do. There’s a lot of darkness in the show so I think it’s really imperative that everybody be able to have that kind of light-hearted relationship as well.
I also loved when Jenna had no idea about the vampires because it made for a lot of great lines. It was always fun to play that, be one of the only people still in the dark about the goings on in Mystic Falls.
The day I found out Jenna was going to die was a really hard day, because I still had two and a half episodes left to shoot. I was really sad. I have such a better perspective on it now than I ever could have then because I understand so much about what makes great TV and how people become invested in characters and story lines, that there needs to be a real weight sometimes in order for a story to progress and for other characters to evolve. I don’t think I could’ve even understood then how important Jenna’s death was for Elena’s character, in particular, but at the time it was really hard.
I’ve luckily maintained a lot of really close friendships with a lot of people who worked on the show, both the cast and the crew. And the fans of this show are incredible because I still feel like a part of the show even though I haven’t been physically on the show in so long. One of the greatest compliments I’ve gotten from fans of the show is them saying, “I wish I had an aunt like Jenna.” That’s really cool. I thought she was such a great female role model for Elena and Jeremy, even though she was a little bit of a partier and she was trying to figure things out. I just loved how honest and transparent she was about everything.
I feel very lucky to have played her. It’s really nice to see that, even though she was only really around for two seasons, I think that she had some sort of lasting impact in the sense that her death really did affect particularly Elena and Jeremy and maybe Alaric too … hopefully. It was a great lesson for me near the beginning of my career about television and what makes exciting television. I feel really grateful for the kindness people have shown me and the outrage that people still express to me about her death. I feel really proud of them. Eight seasons is an incredible feat and I’m very happy to be a part of the family.

Datums laatste aflevering ‘The Vampire Diaries’ en ‘The Originals’ seizoen 4 bekend
The CW heeft aangekondigd dat de laatste aflevering van ‘The Vampire Diaries’ op 10 maart zal worden uitgezonden. Het is niet duidelijk of dit inhoud dat het laatste seizoen minder aflevering krijgt, aangezien de laatste aflevering normaal rond mei uitgezonden werden.
Daarnaast is ook (eindelijk) bekend wanneer het nieuwe seizoen van ‘The Originals’ zal beginnen, dit zal een week na de laatste aflevering van ‘The Vampire Diaries’ zijn op 17 maart.

Het plot voor aflevering 8×06 Detoured On Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell van ‘The Vampire Diaries’ is verschenen.
PAUL WESLEY DIRECTS THE EPISODE WHICH FINDS STEFAN MAKING AN UNEXPECTED SACRIFICE — When her children become the focus of the Siren’s latest plan, Caroline (Candice King) takes drastic measures to ensure nothing gets in the way of keeping her family safe. In a race against the clock, Stefan (Paul Wesley) pledges to do everything he can to save the twins, while tensions between Alaric (Matt Davis) and Caroline boil over, leading them to face some harsh realities about the future of their family. Meanwhile, when Enzo (Michael Malarkey) finds himself unable to fight off Sybil’s (guest star Nathalie Kelley) latest move, Stefan dives into his subconscious and along the way, sets off a chain of events that leaves him faced with a life-changing decision. Kat Graham and Zach Roerig also star. Paul Wesley directed the episode written by Alan McElroy (#806). Original airdate 12/2/2016.

The Vampire Diaries’ Seizoen 5 Bij SBS9
Vanaf maandag 14 november wordt bij SBS9 het vijfde seizoen uitgezonden van de Amerikaanse serie The Vampire Diaries. Dit seizoen telt 22 afleveringen.
In dit vijfde seizoen zien we hoe Elena (Nina Dobrev) samen met Caroline (Candice Accola) gaat studeren op Whitmore. Elena is dolgelukkig nu ze samen is met Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Maar die is bezig met een zoektocht naar Stefan (Paul Wesley) die in een kist in een meer ligt. Dit komt door Silas en die is op zoek naar de menselijkheidskuur die zich nu in Katherine (Nina Dobrev) bevind. Om Silas te verslaan krijgen ze hulp van Tessa (Janina Gavankar). Ondertussen is Bonnie (Kat Graham) overleden, maar Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is de enige die haar nog kan zien. Ook komt Damon dan weer een oude vriend tegen: Enzo (Michael Malarkey) als ze onderzoeken waar het Augustine Genootschap voor staat, waar Wes Maxfield (Rick Cosnett), een docent van Whitmore lid van is. In het laatste deel van het seizoen staan de Travellers centraal, een groep magiërs die zo hun eigen plannen met Mystic Falls hebben.
Het vijfde seizoen van The Vampire Diaries is vanaf 14 november elke maandag om 22:25 en 23:20 te zien bij SBS9

Screencaptures komen eraan
Ik ben vanaf vandaag bezig om de screencaptures van seizoen 7 van ‘The Vampire Diaries’ toe te voegen in de galerij. Ik verwacht dat ze zaterdag van alle aflevering online staan, aangezien ik nu al halverwege ben.
Hierna zullen ook de screencaptures volgen van seizoen 3 van ‘The Originals’! Deze hoop ik eind volgende week allemaal online te hebben.

Vampire Diaries first look: Tyler Lockwood’s ‘emotional’ return
The Vampire Diaries couldn’t have a final season without Tyler Lockwood — Matt’s best friend, Caroline’s ex, and of course, the show’s introduction to werewolves (and hybrids). And in the third episode of the show’s final season, Tyler won’t only be back, but he’s bringing some important information with him.
“Tyler’s return is pretty impactful because we’ve never really explored it on camera, but he’s been working for the Armory, as we learned when he took Elena’s body away,” TVD showrunner Julie Plec tells EW. “He’s the one that knew where Elena’s coffin was, he’s the one that brought Enzo into the fold against his will in the beginning. So he’s been off doing that.”
And because of Tyler’s involvement with the Armory, Plec says, “He’s remained firmly embedded in the supernatural universe, so he’s got information that our heroes don’t have, which is pretty key in the moment when it’s revealed. And there’s a great emotional component to his return that ties into all our characters as well.”
EW has the exclusive first look at Tyler’s return above, which not only involves Damon, but also, some new facial hair.
The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

Het plot voor aflevering 8×05 Coming Home Was A Mistake van ‘The Vampire Diaries’ is verschenen.
Spiraling down a dangerous path of self-destruction, Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) latest actions prove he may be beyond the point of return. Unwilling to give up on his brother, Stefan (Paul Wesley) is forced to make a gut-wrenching decision that threatens to change their relationship forever. Elsewhere, Bonnie (Kat Graham) gets advice from Caroline (Candice King) on how to break through to Enzo (Michael Malarkey), while Matt (Zach Roerig) attempts to decipher a mysterious box of messages that he’s received. Finally, after tragedy strikes close to home, Stefan and the others are forced to remember what matters most to them. Matt Davis also stars.
