  • Candice begint nieuwe podcast ‘A Superbloom Podcast’

    Candice heeft vandaag via instagram laten weten een nieuwe podcast te beginnen genaamd ‘A Superbloom Podcast’, hiervoor heeft ze o.a. een nieuwe instagrampagina geopend en enkele promotiefoto’s gedeeld. Het is nog niet bekend wanneer de podcast verschijnt.

    A Superbloom is a rare botanical phenomenon that is associated with an unusually wet, and rainy season. After the rainstorms, seeds of wildflowers that have lain dormant in desert soil begin to germinate and blossom all at once into a beautiful and magnificent superbloom.

    Life can feel like one rainstorm after another and now, after laying dormant for a bit, I’m ready for a superbloom. On A Superbloom Podcast, I (host @candiceking ) am asking others who’ve experienced their own roadblocks, grief, or tough times to share in how their experiences went on to feed their souls. To talk about the events and passions in their life that allowed them grow and superbloom into their next chapter. #asuperbloompodcast

  • ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ Star Michael Trevino Says Jeanine Mason was ‘Saving Me’ Every Day on Directorial Debut

    A little bit of advice from Julie Plec also didn’t hurt

    Any actor’s directorial debut is daunting. But for “Roswell, New Mexico” star Michael Trevino, things were significantly easier thanks to his leading lady, Jeanine Mason, who apparently was “saving” him on the daily.

    In Monday night’s episode, directed by Trevino, we meet Outlaw Liz (Mason). She’s a parallel version of the Liz Ortecho we’ve come to know and love, who acts on her darker impulses. Thanks to the chemical compound she inhaled, Liz is trapped in her mindscape, battling for dominance. That mindscape, of course, is an old western town, in which Liz is the sheriff, haunted by Outlaw Liz.

    Mason took on double duty for the week and according to Trevino, needed very little direction from him.
    “I literally was just behind the monitor, because I know how talented she is,” Trevino recalled to TheWrap. “And then I see her play this completely different character, making complete opposite choices, and they’re believable, and she’s making it look easy. And I know it’s hard, but she’s making it look so easy. I was so, so thankful for — I remember everyday just being like, ‘thank you’ because she’s saving me!”

    Of course, a little advice from a seasoned vet didn’t hurt either. Because for Trevino, this directorial debut has been a long time coming — he shadowed his old “Vampire Diaries” friend Julie Plec way back on the “Roswell, New Mexico” pilot. So he made sure to pick her brain on some key aspects. But more on that shortly.

    For now, Trevino is just basking in the excitement of his episode finally being out in the world.

    “It’s never easy. But when it’s all said and done and you get to that final day, it all comes together? There’s no better feeling,” he said.

  • Michael Trevino Talks Roswell, New Mexico’s ‘Upside Down’ & Directing Versus Acting

    Roswell, New Mexico’s favorite doctor has had a hell of a season.

    While Kyle Valenti continues to be an integral part of this final season, his portrayer, Michael Trevino, traded in his stethoscope for a director’s chair as he got behind the camera to helm Roswell, New Mexico Season 4 Episode 9.

    It’s a twisty hour that takes viewers into a mindscape that looks much more like an episode of Gunsmoke than Roswell. We asked Michael about the hour and the differences between acting and directing. We also had to sneak in a Kybel question for all you shippers!

    Michael is always a pleasure to speak with, and it’s always a good time talking to him about Roswell. Enjoy!

    What did you think when you got the script and were like, this is going to be my episode because it’s unlike anything we’ve seen on Roswell?
    The initial reaction was that I was so excited and grateful for how big the episode is and how they threw so much at me. And then I was terrified because I had no idea how I was going to shoot it.

    So, a lot of prep went into it because there are just a lot of moving parts in this one. And I’m just grateful for the opportunity but was also just a bit nervous going in, until you do the prep and do the work and then you figure out like, “Oh, okay, this is how I’m going to tell your story.”

    Kat Graham’s stand-out track from her latest album Long Hot Summer, entitled Oprah Rich, is sure to put a snarl in your step as you navigate the pallid crowds of your commute. Kat’s unapologetic celebration of her success is the reverb-loaded, bass-laden anthem of an archetypal boss bitch.

    When asked what her audience ought to take from her new track, Kat shared, “I really hope that people feel more unapologetically themselves. I hope that people see that they can be every colour that they dream of. The main message is to not just be yourself, but to be the loudest version of you.”

    We sat down with Kat to discuss where she got her start in the performative world, the process behind her newest album, and her work as a human rights activist.

    Hi Kat! How are you? How has this past year been with you?
    Hi! 2022 has definitely been one of the most intense years I’ve had in a long time.

    Can you take us back to the beginning of your music career?
    My music career started at around age 15. I was taking my beats that I had made in a tiny Hollywood one-bedroom apartment with my mum around to labels in NYC to try and get artists to feature on them. I couldn’t get any artists to get on my beats so I started to record myself on them to demo. One night in Hollywood a few years later I met will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and he liked my work and invited me to get on a couple records with him on his Songs About Girls album. Shortly after that, I toured with him internationally in 2007. I continued making solo records as an artist, got the attention of Perez Hilton who took me on as an artist on his label, and we got a label deal with Interscope in 2010.

    The CW’s “Legacies” ended on Thursday with not one, but two very special appearances from beloved characters.

    Joesph Morgan’s Klaus Mikaelson spoke with his daughter Hope from the afterlife to let her know that he’d finally found peace — which showrunner Brett Matthews told TheWrap was an integral part of bringing the show to a close. Fans might have guessed that Morgan was making a return, after he cryptically teased it on social media, but they likely weren’t expecting the surprise return of Candice King as Caroline Forbes — a character from the original “The Vampire Diaries.”

    “I hope that there was a whole bunch of people that actually get to watch it live and be totally surprised,” King told TheWrap. “That was the goal. We’ve been trying to have Caroline Forbes get back into the ‘Legacies’ world for a while now.”

    Based on a shocking true story, Melanie McGuire (Candice King) was an exceptional fertility nurse, married to her ex-Navy husband Bill (Michael Roark) and doting mother of two boys. When she falls for Brad (Jackson Hurst), a doctor at her clinic, and gets entangled in a steamy love affair, Melanie does the unthinkable. After drugging and murdering Bill, she dismembers him and places the body parts into three suitcases, throwing them into Chesapeake Bay. But when the suitcases are found on the shores of Virginia Beach, an investigation is launched leading to Melanie as the prime suspect. Led by the efforts of assistant attorney general Patti Prezioso (Wendie Malick), authorities eventually bring Melanie to justice, who despite being convicted, continues to maintain her innocence.

    I had a chance to speak with the actress about how she approached the role, researching the story, her fans, and much more. Keep reading for my full interview!

    Huge congrats on the film, I am so excited to speak with you about it. You were amazing. Was your approach different when it came to bringing this true story to life on screen rather than material that is completely fiction?
    It was so different and first of all, thank you for your very kind words. I’m glad that you enjoyed the film. Oh my gosh, I could not get enough of this story. I mean, first and foremost, of course, I think it’s important to acknowledge that the root of this story is that somebody lost their life. There is a tragedy. There are sons that lost their father, there is a mother who lost the father of their children. Regardless of what side you fall on, on innocence or guilt, there are parents that lost their son and it is a very sad story. That is a terrible way for anyone to be murdered and killed. It’s tragic.

  • ‘Legacies’ EPs Julie Plec & Brett Matthews On Saying Goodbye For Now & Their Plans To Expand The Universe

    “Annoyed” is the word Julie Plec used to describe how she’s feeling about the end of The Vampire Diaries franchise on the heels of the Legacies finale airing tonight before sharing a hearty laugh. Legacies was canceled after four seasons by the CW in mid-May as the network prepares for a sale.

    Plec, who is the co-creator and executive producer of The Vampire Diaries and the creator of its two spinoffs, The Originals and Legacies, was joined by Legacies showrunner and fellow executive producer Brett Matthews for a chat with Deadline about the end of an era and their plans to expand on the franchise’s legacy someday.

    “I think it’s no secret that this was not the ending we expected to have,” Plec shared. “You know, in our minds, Legacies would have continued to the run-up to and beyond whenever we introduced the next chapter. The big moves in the business that are out of our control sort of wrote a different ending for us. So yeah, we’re bummed and annoyed but we also feel really, really good. Not just about the end of this with the series finale but also, between Brett and I, we’ve been involved in over 300 episodes of television. It’s something to be really proud of. We’re proud of the franchise but we’re also just a little bit irritated with the decisions that were made that put [the franchise] on pause earlier than we intended.”

    There was sadness in Matthews’ voice when asked how he was feeling about wrapping up Legacies tonight but he remains positive about the franchise’s future.

    “[What Julie said] is the honest answer. It’s all so bittersweet,” he said. “The Vampire Diaries is so important as is The Originals and Legacies and I know more will come as more people find it. So it doesn’t really feel like a goodbye to the franchise to me but the sadness is about saying goodbye to Legacies and the people we built great relationships with. I don’t fear for the future of it, but obviously, it’s all sad because it’s something we had no control over. I’m thankful we got to do it, excited to do it again probably momentarily.”
