  • Nina gecast in ‘Arrivials’

    Nina is gecast in de nieuwe film ‘Arrivals’!

    Former The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev is taking another trip to the big screen. Coming off the Toronto Film Festival and SpectreFest screenings of horror comedy The Final Girls, she is now headed for Arrivals, I’ve learned. The actress will join Ender’s Game’s Asa Butterfield and Game Of Thrones’ Maisie Williams in the Peter Hutchings-directed coming-of-age indie.

    Dobrev, who left the CW’s Vampire Diaries earlier this year after six seasons, will play American flight attendant Izzy, who is the love interest of Butterfield’s character. The screenplay by Fergal Rock was a 2013 Academy Nicholl semifinalist. The pic, produced by BCDF Pictures and Kalahari Films & Media, is set to start shooting in South Africa this winter.

    Butterfield’s Calvin is a hypochondriac college dropout who now works as a baggage handler at Cape Town airport. In a funk, he is pulled into the unconventional bucket list quest of Brit teen Skye, played by GoT’s Williams, who also appears on Doctor Who this season. That team-up helps Calvin to face his deepest fears.

    Now off the small screen from playing Elena Gilbert on TVD, Dobrev will be seen October 9 on the big screen in the limited release of The Final Girls. Having debuted at SXSW, the Todd Strauss-Schulson directed film also stars Malin Akerman and Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch. Degrassi: The Next Generation alum Dobrev previously appeared in last year’s Let’s Be Cops, 2012’s The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, and 2009’s Chloe.

    Dobrev is repped by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Hansen Jacobson.

  • Paul Wesley, Brittany Snow, Blake Cooper Join Comedy ‘The Late Bloomer’

    Paul Wesley (“The Vampire Diaries”), Brittany Snow (“Pitch Perfect”) and Blake Cooper (“The Maze Runner”) have signed on to join Johnny Simmons in Kevin Pollak‘s feature directorial debut “The Late Bloomer,” which is being produced by Eclectic Pictures and Ineffable Pictures.

    Simmons plays Dr. Peter Newmans, a sex therapist who works in an office headed by Caroline (Jane Lynch). He’s got two well-meaning wingmen in Luke (“SNL’s” Beck Bennett) and Rich (“Silicon Valley’s” Kumail Nanjiani) and his young friend Josh (Cooper). His suffocating parents James (Oscar winner JK Simmons) and Brenda (Maria Bello) bemoan his lack of a girlfriend. There’s a perfect candidate in the girl next door (Snow) but she’s dating a quintessential alpha male.

    After Pete is knocked out in a pick-up basketball game, ER doctors discover a tumor and after it’s removed, he experiences what would normally be years of puberty in a matter of weeks. Against those odds, can Pete master his raging manhood and get the girl?

    Wesley co-stars in the film alongside Ken Marino (“Wet Hot American Summer”), Ileana Douglas (“Goodfellas”), Charlotte McKinney (“Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser”), Vanessa Ragland (“Banditos”) and Lenora Crichlow (“Being Human”).
    “The Late Bloomer” is based on the life story of noted journalist and author Ken Baker, who battled with a skull base tumor that wreaked havoc on his hormonal system and prevented him from entirely going through puberty until age 27. Baker’s experience inspired his non-fiction book “Man Made: A Memoir of My Body.”

    The film was written by Joe Nussbaum, Paul A. Kaplan & Mark Torgove, and Kyle Cooper & Austyn Jeffs. It’s being produced by Heidi Jo Markel of Eclectic Pictures, and Raphael Kryszek and Jesse Israel of Ineffable Pictures. Conor Charles serves as co-producer. Production is under way in Los Angeles and will wrap on Sept. 5 in Bulgaria.
    Ineffable is currently nearing production on Shekhar Kapur‘s “Tiger’s Curse” and Takashi Doscher’s “Only,” while Eclectic Pictures has produced “Lovelace” and “Olympus Has Fallen.”

    Kat’s nieuwe film ‘Muse’ zal op 20 juni in premiere gan tijdens 2015 Palm Springs film festival,

    Muse has just been announced as part of the 2015 Palm Springs film festival line up! The film series will have screenings on Friday, June 19 at 8:00pm as well as Saturday, June 20 at 1:30pm. Screenings take place at the Camelot Theatre.

  • Claire scoort hoofdrol in thriller ‘47 Meters Down’

    Claire Holt heeft één van de hoofdrollen gescoort in de thriller ‘47 Meters Down’, naast actrice Mandy Moore. Het tweetal zullen zussen spelen die tijdens een vakantie in Mexico vast komen te zitten in een haaienkooi op de bodem van de ocean…. met maar een uur aan zuurstof en hongerige witte haaien om hen heen. De productie van de film beginnen in juni en de opnames zullen o.a. in Engeland plaats vinden.

    EXCLUSIVE: The Vampire Diaries and The Originals star Claire Holt has landed the co-lead role opposite Mandy Moore in 47 Meters Down, the Dimension Films underwater thriller that the label picked up last spring. Production is now set to start in June with Mark Lane and James Harris producing via their The Tea Shop and Film Company, the outfit behind Cockneys Vs. Zombies and Tower Block.

    Moore boarded earlier this week. The two will play sisters on a dream vacation to Mexico who become trapped in a shark observation cage at the bottom of the ocean, with oxygen running low and hungry great whites circling nearby. They have less than an hour of air left to figure out how to get to the surface. Johannes Roberts is directing the pic and he co-wrote it with Ernest Riera. The picture is set to shoot in the UK and also at Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios’ new exterior water tank for the extensive underwater scenes which comprise the majority of the pic.

    The Aussie-born Holt played Rebekah Mikaelson on Vampire Diaries and the spinoff Originals, and she’s ramping up her post-CW career in a big way with this as well as a role on NBC’s summer series Aquarius starring David Duchovny, which premieres May 28. She is repped by CAA, Affirmative Entertainment and Doug Stone.
