De Amerikaanse zender heeft besloten de serie ‘Army Wives’ te cancelen, vanaf afgelopen seizoen had Torrey een vast rol in de serie.
Lifetime has canceled its long-running drama series “Army Wives.”
“There is no denying how special ‘Army Wives’ has been to both Lifetime and the television landscape,” Lifetime’s executive vice president and general manager, Rob Sharenow, said in a statement.

“By taking on a very relevant and timely issue, it has brilliantly captured the challenges our military families endure and the bravery they and their loved ones display while serving our country,” he continued.
After seven seasons, the cable network plans to end the series run with a two-hour retrospective special featuring cast members that will air early next year.
“It has been an honor to be the home of ‘Army Wives,’” Sharenow added. “We also want to thank ‘Army Wives’ passionate legion of fans and everyone involved with the series: ABC Studios, Mark Gordon and Jeff Melvoin, Tanya Biank, every single cast member, as well as the crew and community of Charleston, South Carolina. Without their dedication, effort and loyalty, ‘Army Wives’ seven wonderful seasons would not have been possible; and for that we are very grateful.”
“Army Wives” followed the struggles, dreams and friendships of a diverse group of women living with their spouses and families on an active Army post. It was created by Katherine Fugate and based on the Tanya Biank novel “Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives.” It was produced by ABC Studios. Mark Gordon and Jeff Melvoin served as executive producers.
The series’ ensemble cast has included Catherine Bell, Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Wendy Davis, Brigid Brannagh, Kelli Williams, Brian McNamara, Sterling K. Brown, Brooke Shields, Ashanti, Torrey DeVitto, Elle McLemore, Jesse McCartney, Terry Serpico, Drew Fuller, Alyssa Diaz, J.J. Soria, Joshua Henry and Burgess Jenkins.
The drama has received numerous honors, including two Gracie Awards from the Alliance for Women in Media, a Sentinel for Health Award from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism’s Norman Lear Center, as well as numerous nominations for an NAACP Image Award, NAMIC Award or Prism Award.
Once one of Lifetime’s most-watched original series, its Season 7 finale in June attracted 2.41 million total viewers.
The Vampire Diaries-sterren Paul Wesley (31) en Torrey DeVitto (29) gaan, na een huwelijk van twee jaar, scheiden. Dit meldt de voorlichter van het stel. “Ze zijn goed uit elkaar gegaan en willen in de toekomst vrienden blijven.”
De twee ontmoetten elkaar in 2007 op de set van Killer Movie en trouwde in 2011 in New York City.
Beide sterren speelden in The Vampire Diaries en The Army Wives. Paul speelt momenteel nog in de vampierenserie, waarvan in het najaar het vijfde seizoen start. Torrey is het komende seizoen nog te zien in The Army Wives en Pretty Little Liars.

Afgelopen weekend waren enkele castleden aanwezig op de ‘Bite Me I’m Famous’ Conventie in Parijs, Frankrijk. En werden ze door de papparazi gespot toen ze in hun vrije tijd in de stad waren.

Matt Davis heeft om persoonlijke redenen zijn verschijning op de BloodyNightCon Conventie in Brussel moeten afzeggen. Zijn plaats wordt ingenomen door niemand minder dan Torrey DeVitto!
Zoals jullie allemaal weten, komen we vandaag met treurig nieuws voor de BloodyNightCon Europe, en dat nieuws is dat Matt Davis niet in staat is om in Brussel te zijn dit jaar vanwege persoonlijke verplichtingen. Onthoud dat dit iets is dat kan gebeuren bij dit soort evenementen en dat de organisatie hier geen enkele controle over heeft en dat het is vastgelegd op onze website, in het gast gedeelte. We voelen ons verplicht, mede door deze annulering, omdat we jullie niet wilden laten zitten zonder de vijf gasten die we beloofd hadden, hebben we ondanks de korte tijd die we nog over hebben tot het evenement toch meteen een vervangster voor Matt gevonden: TORREY DEVITTO. We willen graag publiekelijk onze DANK betuigen aan Torrey en Paul voor hun hulp and snelle antwoorden om dit mogelijk te maken. Het zevende seizoen van de serie ‘Army Wives’ is begonnen, hier zal Torrey DeVitto in te zien zijn. Gisteren werd de eerste aflevering uitgezonden, hiervoor poste Torrey een video op het facebookaccount van de serie om dit aan te kondigen. Ze was nog niet te zien in de eerste aflevering maar er verscheen wel een nieuwe promotiefoto!
