  • Michael Trevino Talks The Valenti Legacy & Roswell, New Mexico’s Exciting Season 3

Michael heeft een interview gehad met The Wrap over het derde seizoen van ‘Roswell, New Mexico’.

We here at TV Fanatic love ourselves some Kyle Valenti.

This season, Roswell, New Mexico’s resident doctor, and all-around gem, has been put to the test. But through all the trials and tribulations, he remains the one guy his friends can always count on.

Michael Trevino was kind enough to take the time to chat with us about Kyle’s journey this season, what’s next for him, and which character from The Vampire Diaries he’d like to see spend a little time in alien territory.

    Hey, Whitney.

    Hi Michael, how are you?
I’m doing well. I’m doing well. How are you?

Good, I’m great. Thank you. So, I’m just jumping right in here. Kyle has had a lot going on in season three, to put it mildly. How would you describe his journey so far this season?
Well, as I’m sure you know, Kyle is continuing to put out fires. He’s there for as many people as he can be, but he’s definitely called upon. And whenever he’s needed, I feel like he shows up, but in episode 3×09, that’s going to air next week, I think we kind of see things.

He’s reached his limit. And you sense his frustration. And I feel that it’s warranted even though it comes in a bit hot, but we’re in season three, and his life has taken a turn. And he’s finding out more and more about his own family history, and I think it’s just been a bit frustrating for him.

Sure. And while Kyle was recovering, the audience got the big bomb dropped on us that Ramos is Kyle’s uncle. And that adds another layer to the Valenti history and legacy. So can you kind of speak to where Kyle currently is in regards to his feelings about his father and his feelings about the legacy of his family?
Well, I think what the writers have done is really, from season one to season three, has painted a picture of who Kyle’s father was. Who is Jim Valenti? And at first, we thought he’s this great guy that Kyle had looked up to and always wanted to make proud. And maybe that is the driving force in everything and anything that Kyle does.

  • Kat Graham Explains the Meaning Behind Her New Identity “Toro Gato”

Kat Graham is gone—meet Toro Gato.

The former Vampire Diaries star debuted her true identity during E! News’ Daily Pop on Aug. 31.

“I think that we as entertainers have this identity that we have to give to the public and be presentable, and I think sometimes we forget our core and our truth,” Toro Gato exclusively explained today. “As our artist, I want to explore that with this Toro Gato project and this entire NFT collection. I wanted to kind of dismantle my former identity.”

The “SWIM” singer continued, “I actually bury myself in one of these films. So this is a new version. They say it’s the alter ego but I actually think the more and more time I spend in this space, I think Kat is the alter ego and I am becoming the West African, the ruler, the monster, that’s not scared of anything that can show up without shoes on. I think that’s really fun, and a terrifying place to be.”

Toro Gato embraced her tribal ancestors and collected different garments that “represent who I am as a woman and where my ancestors are from.”

Gato noted, “In this Western, vey American-ized world, I think that sometimes it can look like a spectacle, but you will see that it’s not actually a costume,” she opened up. “What we’re wearing is a costume.”

And don’t expect there to be anything unnatural about Toro Gato. “I don’t think Toro Gato wears wigs,” she joked. “I just wanted to annihilate this idea that we needed to be a certain way to be accepted, that we need validation, and I hope that people can see that and find their own monster or creative outlet.”

The name Toro Gato shows the duality between the two egos, according to the artist formerly known as Graham.

“Toro Gato shows the light and the dark sides, so you know when you get really really angry and you’re scared of that monster and you don’t want to let that side out? Like, this is that version of that,” she said. “Gato is maybe the peaceful side, and both sides can exist. It’s showcasing the subconscious mind and the conscious mind.”

Toro Gato concluded, “I think with everything we’ve all experienced with COVID and quarantine and finding our truth, that is just kind of birthed it. I’ve been working on this since 2016 and I didn’t want to come out like this. I think a lot of it was the pandemic, a lot of it was looking at young Black girls crying after watching me celebrate my ‘fro and seeing that there is something really cool in truth.”

Watch the full interview above to meet Toro Gato ahead of her live presentation of “SWIM” on Sept. 8 to celebrate both her birthday and her “death day.”

“SWIM” is available now and the upcoming visual EP, TORO GATO: PART I will drop Sept. 10 and be available as an NFT exclusively through YellowHeart.

The Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley have expanded the US availability of Brother’s Bond Bourbon after achieving the ‘most successful pre-sale launch’ in the history of Reserve Bar.

Somerhalder and Wesley became the latest celebrities to move into spirits when they launched Brother’s Bond Bourbon in 2020.

The 40% ABV expression is a four-grain, high-rye Bourbon comprised of 65% corn, 22% rye and a percentage of wheat and barley that has not been disclosed. It is aged for a minimum of four years in virgin American oak barrels.

The name of the brand is a nod to the actors’ former roles in supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries, where they played brothers, as well as their shared love of Bourbon and the ‘brotherhood they have formed over the years’.

“Our characters bonded on-screen over Bourbon and so it made sense that we would do the same off-camera,” the duo said. “Never could we have imagined that our creation would come this far and help establish new bonds as well as strengthen old ones. We are so proud of the success of our initial release and are excited to say that this is just the beginning.”
