Kat is gecast in de nieuwe film ‘Emperor’

Kat Graham has joined Oscar nominees James Cromwell and Bruce Dern have for Emperor, joining previously announced star Dayo Okeniyi in the Civil War-abolitionist film directed by former Lionsgate exec Mark Amin. Paul Scheer, Harry Lennix, Naturi Naughton, Mykelti Williamson, Ben Robson, Keean Johnson are also attached to co-star in the film, which hails from Amin’s Sobini Films banner.

Inspired by the true story, the pic follows Shields Green (Okeniyi), who in 1859 escaped from a plantation and made a daring journey north where he met Frederick Douglass (Lennix) and John Brown. With the opportunity to continue to freedom in Canada, Green instead chose to fight to end slavery. The raid at Harpers Ferry is considered one of the sparks that led to the Civil War.

Kat heeft rollen gescoord in twee nieuwe film ‘Christmas Calendar’ voor NetfliX en daarnaast zal ze te zien zijn naast o.a. acteur Morgan Freeman in de film ‘The Poison Rose’. Het is nog niet bekend wanneer beide film uitkomen.

The Vampire Diaries alum Kat Graham has signed on to star in Christmas Calendar, a Netflix holiday pic directed by Bradley Walsh. Quincy Brown (Dope, Fox series Star) has been cast to play Graham’s love interest in the film, which Brad Krevoy is producing.

It follows Abby Sutton (Graham), an aspiring photographer who inherits a magical advent calendar from her deceased grandmother that seems to be predicting her future — and pointing the way to a new romance with a hunky admirer.

In addition, Graham has been cast in The Poison Rose, playing Morgan Freeman’s daughter in the film, which also stars Forest Whitaker and John Travolta as Carson Philips, down-on-his-luck PI who enjoys his share of drinking, smoking, and gambling. He takes on a case that, like the story goes, starts out appearing fairly routine, slowly reveals itself to be a complex interwoven web of crimes, suspects, and dead bodies.

George Gallo is directing from a script by Richard Salvatore, who is also producing with Jeff Elliott and Oscar Generale.

Graham, known for her eight seasons run as Bonnie Bennett on The CW supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries, will be seen in How It Ends, another Netflix feature in which she plays opposite Forest Whitaker and Theo James and co-stars in RZA’s CUT Throat City, with Terence Howard, Wesley Snipes, and Omar Epps.
