y Salvatore (Annie Wersching) is one of our favorite new The Vampire Diaries characters that has come along in a long while. Though she’s yet to reach her full potential as a character, she’s already stirred things up for her sons, Damon and Stefan, in some heartbreaking ways. Luckily, she’ll be back in Season 7 of TVD. We can’t wait to see what this vampire drama has in store for her…
According to The Wrap, Annie will be returning for a major recurring arc in the upcoming season. Though we knew Annie would be back as Lily, it’s awesome to hear that her role won’t be minor. With Elena gone, TVD must turn its focus elsewhere for the heart of its narrative and the Salvatore family drama has massive potential to break and melt our hearts in equal measure, as an integral TVD narrative should.
This is also good news for our hopes for Enzo’s character. Like Lily, Enzo had more potential than payoff as a character in Season 6. Lily’s introduction was actually the narrative element that brought new life to his storyline. Their past connection, as well as the mutual trust and respect they are building for one another, makes their relationship fascinating to watch. Add in the complication of their respective messy relationships to Damon, and you have the recipe for some delicious melodrama in Season 7. Also, we kind of ship Lily and Enzo together, so…
